• The system will not run satisfactory on a 9V battery, and is designed to run on 8 (eight) AA cells.

• Yes.  NOTE:  Be sure to recharge all at the same time, and do not mismatched charge levels between individual batteries.

• How can I tell if my batteries need replacing / recharging?
